Education Forum

Education for a 21st Century World

August 6-7, 2014 Minneapolis, Minnesota

Greetings to Education Forum from Finland’s Minister of Education Krista Kiuru

How should we nurture the next generation from cradle to career?
Can we make learning fun for children and adults to enjoy?

The Education Forum “Cradle to Career” is a two-day seminar that will focus on Education for the 21st Century World and will answer these questions. Special attention is given to innovative learning strategies to emphasize 21st century skills while making learning fun. Fun learning is a way to motivate kids tapping into their intrinsic motivation and using the latest tools in technology and creativity. We will hear from the best and the brightest in the field of education and the leading edge of innovation! Top government education officials from Finland and U.S. are invited to share their plans for success for the next decade. Then the Finnish Company Rovio will introduce their innovative approaches to education in Finland and elsewhere in the world – “Fun Learning with the Angry Birds”.

The Education Forum will bring together government policy makers and educational theorists from the two countries, to create a dialogue with school administrators, classroom teachers, parents, and students. Pasi Sahlberg, the visiting professor at Harvard Graduate School for Education and the Education Commissioner, Brenda Cassellius from the Department of Education will address the types of reforms we are committing to in Minnesota and how we are moving forward to tackle the question of equity. This Forum will provide you an opportunity to help envision and define a workable and viable future for public education and equitable future that engages the entire population.
