Cokato Tour

All Day Tour to Cokato

Wednesday, August 6, 8:00am – 4:00pm

Visit Cokato, the oldest continuous Finnish community in North America, in this all-day bus tour.

Cokato, 50 miles west of Minneapolis, was settled by Finns who first arrived in Minnesota in 1864 and then began to homestead farmlands in the Cokato region in 1865. You will visit the Cokato City museum where you will see artifacts from the original settlers and see how the Finns fit into the history of the larger community. You will visit Temperance Corners, the Finnish “community” center that developed a few miles north of town. Today, the corner serves as a small open air museum. Early churches and cemeteries are included, and the “Old Tin Church”, a church with its handcrafted wooden interior and furniture, will be the last stop on the tour.

This all day bus tour leaves from the Hyatt Hotel at 8AM on Wednesday, August 6. People can also pick up the bus also at Ridgedale along the way.

A Pasty lunch is included in the price.

The tour will bring you back to the Hyatt by 4PM so that you could also attend the St. Croix river cruise as well.

Transportation, museum fees, and lunch are included in the $25 fee.
